Inheriting his passion for music from his mother, a retired music educator, Ethan Thaddeus Edmondson has followed in her footsteps and been building a successful career in the field. Since 2022, he has taught music at Spruce Mountain School District Regional School Unit 73 in Maine, where he instructs chorus classes and general music for third, fourth, and fifth grades, as well as leads fifth-grade band lessons; in addition, he serves as a reading companion to aid in the development of literacy skills among students. Prior to this position, he was a general music teacher at Swan’s Island School, Katahdin School, and the Ellsworth School Department.
Outside of school hours, Mr. Edmondson is active as an accomplished trumpet player with the Downeast Chamber Orchestra, which performs four major concerts a year in Winter Harbor, and with the Bar Harbor Band, which gathers for concerts every week. He’s also a volunteer musician within the church community and participates in numerous community service-related initiatives and food pantries surrounding breast cancer awareness.
As a testament to his dedication and passion, Mr. Edmondson was a finalist for a Teacher of the Year award within his district. He prepared for his career by attaining a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a minor in cello from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2010, then completing master’s coursework at the University of Maine.
